Getting Started in MU Fighters

Welcome to MU Fighters, an OpenMU Season 6 Episode 3 server with a Medium-Hard feel: progression is rewarding, but nothing is handed to you. This guide is your map from the start to your first reset. In a few steps you’ll create an account, pick a class, climb to the level cap, redistribute everything on reset, and grow stronger every cycle. Let’s go from zero to your first reset, straight to the point.

The beginner path in 5 steps

This is the route every new character follows. Each step has its own page with details — here’s the overview that ties it all together.

  1. Create your account — just login and password (see the How to create an account guide).
  2. Download the client — it comes pre-configured for the server (see Download and install).
  3. Pick a class and create your character.
  4. Level up by killing monsters through the maps in the right order until you hit level 400.
  5. Do your first reset with the /reset command and start over stronger.

Steps 1 and 2: account and client

First things first — you need an account and the game client.

  • Account: signup is quick — a login of 3 to 10 letters/numbers and a password of 8 to 20 characters. Email is optional. Details in the How to create an account guide.
  • Client: download it from the Downloads page. Requirements: Windows 10/11, 4 GB RAM, 5 GB free, and DirectX 9. See the Download and install guide.

Step 3: pick your class

MU Fighters runs on the Season 6 three-generation class system — every class starts weak and evolves into stronger versions as you level up and complete its evolution quests.

There’s no “wrong” class to start with. The rule of thumb is simple:

  • Want to fight up close and tank hits? Go melee.
  • Prefer magic and ranged damage? Go caster.
  • Like support, buffs, and versatility? There are classes built for that.

The available class names, their generation evolutions, and starting stats follow the server’s current configuration — check the character creation screen in the client. Beginner tip: a melee class is usually the most forgiving for a first character, since it takes more punishment while you learn the maps.

Step 4: level to the cap (level 400)

This is the heart of the game. MU Fighters uses 20x EXP at normal level and 3x EXP for Master Level, so leveling is fast without being instant — perfect for the Medium-Hard pace.

Map order

Climb through the maps by difficulty: each zone has monsters suited to your level and drops matching jewels and gear. The recommended leveling path is:

Lorencia → Noria → Devias → Atlans → Lost Tower → Tarkan → Aida → Kanturu…

Don’t skip ahead: monsters far above your level give poor results and kill you fast. As you advance, zones drop better jewels (Soul, Life, Creation, Guardian, Harmony) and Excellent gear. See the Rates (EXP and Drop) guide to understand drops by zone.

Speed it up with events

While leveling, join the events for EXP, Zen, and bonus jewels and gift boxes:

  • Blood Castle, Devil Square, and Chaos Castle — on completion, on top of the XP/Zen, you get jewels in your inventory (and, at higher levels, a Box of Luck).
  • Golden Invasion and Red Dragon Invasion — special monsters that drop items and boxes.

Schedules show up in the Events board on the home page. Details in the Events and invasions guide.

Step 5: your first reset

When you hit level 400, it’s reset time: you wipe your level in exchange for permanent bonuses. This is how you get truly strong in MU Fighters.

Type /reset in chat (any player can use it). Here’s what happens:

Reset ruleValue
Required level400
Zen cost1,000,000 × (reset count + 1)
Level after resetback to level 1
Points gained+500 per reset (they stack)
Statsredistributed (back to class base)
Reset limitnone
Master Levelkept

In other words: your 1st reset costs 1kk Zen; the 2nd costs 2kk; the 3rd costs 3kk, and so on. Each reset stacks +500 points to spend on attributes, makes you permanently stronger, and climbs you up the Ranking. Master Level is not lost. More details in the Reset System guide.

Important: the reset only fires if you have level 400 and the required Zen. Without that, the command just warns you — nothing is destroyed.

Survival tips

MU is brutal to anyone who rushes in unprepared. Keep these rules:

  • Always carry potions. Buy Large Healing Potion and Large Mana Potion at the Loja MU Fighters, the NPC in Lorencia.
  • Keep Town Portal Scroll and Antidote. Town Portal yanks you out of trouble instantly; Antidote cures poison.
  • Get wings early. The Lorencia NPC sells Wings of Elf/Heaven/Satan (1st tier) and the Horn of Dinorant — mobility and survivability make a huge difference in the early game.
  • Don’t out-level your map. Respect the zone order; repeated deaths only slow you down.
  • Hoard jewels and farm patiently. Bless, Soul, and Chaos are used to upgrade gear; save them.
  • Spend your Event Points. Killing monsters earns the Event Points currency (max(1, level/10) per kill). Use the /loja command to check your balance and buy jewels, Box of Luck, and even wings. See the Commands guide.
  • Party up or join a guild. Hard areas become safe (and faster) in a party.
