Classes, Evolutions and Master Level
MU Fighters runs on OpenMU Season 6 Episode 3, with the classic 3-generation class system. In practice, every character starts in the 1st generation and, as it levels up, unlocks the 2nd and 3rd generations — gaining a new name, look and skills at each step. The level cap is 400, and from there the Master Level kicks in along with the Master Skill Tree, which is where your build really starts to shine. This guide explains how that path works here on the server, no fluff.
The 3-generation system
Season 6 uses three generations per class lineage. Instead of jumping straight to a “final” class, you climb the tree:
- 1st generation — the base class you create your character as.
- 2nd generation — the first evolution, which unlocks new skills and gear.
- 3rd generation — the most advanced form of the lineage, with the full kit.
Each generation keeps the progress of the previous one: it’s the same character, just stronger and with more options. The available lineages, the exact class names in each generation, and the evolution requirements (level, quest and items) all follow the server’s current configuration.
Class definitions live in the OpenMU core. The specific names and evolutions of each lineage are the Season 6 ones, per the server’s current configuration.
Picking your lineage
When you create a character, you pick a 1st-generation class. Straight tips:
- Think about the playstyle you want (melee, ranged magic, support, etc.).
- Remember the evolution stays within the same lineage — the 2nd and 3rd generations are extensions of the class you created.
- The starting stats and point distribution of each class follow the server’s current configuration.
Max level and the road to Master
The normal level cap is 400. That’s the number that opens the endgame doors:
| What | Value |
|---|---|
| Max level (normal) | 400 |
| Max Master Level | 200 |
| Normal EXP rate | 20x |
| Master EXP rate | 3x |
Normal EXP runs at 20x and Master EXP at 3x — meaning the road to 400 is fast, while the Master grind is slower by design (it’s the long-term content). The 400 and 200 caps are the Season 6 defaults; any fine-tuning applies per the server’s current configuration.
Master Level and the Master Skill Tree
Once you hit level 400, your character starts accumulating Master Experience and climbing the Master Level (up to the 200 cap). This is where the Master Skill Tree comes in — the master skill tree native to Season 6.
Here’s how it works:
- Each Master Level grants Master Skill points to invest in the tree.
- The Master Skill Tree has its own branches per class; which skills appear and what each one does follow the server’s current configuration.
- Master Level uses Master EXP (3x), separate from normal EXP — that’s why it progresses at a slower, more rewarding pace.
Important: the server uses the Season 6 Master Skill Tree, not the Season 18-style talent tree. It’s the classic master skill system.
Reset and Master Level
Reset is the core gear of long-term progression here. When you use the /reset command (available to any player), your character goes back to level 1 and redistributes its stats — but there’s one detail that changes everything for Master investors:
Master Level is kept on reset. You wipe your normal level, but you do not lose what you built in the Master Skill Tree.
Reset requirements and effects:
| Item | Rule |
|---|---|
| Required level | 400 |
| Cost | 1,000,000 Zen × (number of resets + 1) |
| After reset | back to level 1, stats redistributed |
| Points gained | +500 per reset (they stack) |
| Reset limit | none |
| Master Level | kept |
In practice: you grind to 400, hit /reset to bank points and restart the fast grind (at 20x), and your Master Level stays intact, growing in parallel. That cycle is what separates a casual character from a veteran.
In short
- The server is Season 6 with the 3-generation class system (1st → 2nd → 3rd).
- Class names, evolutions and requirements follow the server’s current configuration.
- Level cap 400; Master Level cap 200.
- Normal EXP 20x, Master EXP 3x.
- The endgame is Master Level + Master Skill Tree (the S6 system, not S18).
/resetcosts 1kk × (resets + 1), requires level 400, grants +500 points and keeps Master Level.
